Yoga: What Should My Yoga Practice Look Like?

Before I started my yoga practice I had this idea in my head that to practice yoga you had to be thin, strong, flexible and athletic. I always found myself discouraged from taking a yoga class because I had none of those traits or abilities. When I finally worked up the courage to start a dedicated practice I began to realize that those preconceived notions couldn’t be further from the truth.

Starting my yoga practice has truly been the gateway to my holistic healing. It has taught me so much more than just how to twist my body into a few crazy shapes. Consistently showing up to my mat has not only had a positive effect on my physical health but it has given me a sense of grounding, peace and patience… a virtue I was definitely not born with.

The beautiful idea behind the practice of yoga is that your practice can look however you desire it to look. Yoga is such a personal and versatile journey that your practice will most likely look drastically different from and should never be compared to anyone else’s. In fact, your practice may even look different for you on a day to day basis. There are so many different combinations of styles, methods and ways that we can develop our own unique path in the way that serves us best.

In addition to all of the healing benefits of a consistent yoga practice I really do find yoga to be a fun activity. While it is a practice that is very introspective it can also be an activity that can be shared and can create deep connections amongst strangers and those we love.

I’ve always said the hardest part of yoga is getting started. It would be my honor to guide you on starting and/or further exploring your already established path in this sacred practice. Whether you are just beginning your journey or looking to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the practice my 1:1 sessions are the perfect place to start. Through these 1:1 sessions we can set you onto your own individualized path of  discovery. So let’s connect and start your yoga practice today.
